The chair has started its activities from the participation in the II International Scientific Forum ‘Stepping into the Future: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy’ that was held on December 2018 and organised by the State University of Management with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and in partnership with the Association of BRICS Countries Business Schools. The SUM UNESCO Chair and TASS Information Agency held an international session ‘Societal and Ethical Challenges of the Digital Age’ and an international round table ‘Overcoming Digital Inequality: Prospects for Digital Volunteering Development’.
In November 2018, one of the chair key activities was laid – digital volunteering development. Volunteers will work on solving the issues of digital inequality, access to information, media education, and positive content spread. The project on creation of the International Center for Digital Volunteering Development involves the creation of aplatform that will unite volunteers and non-profit organisations that carry out their Internet voluntary activities. The platform will help in training, research conducting, experience exchanging, and finding new volunteers.
